I have been using VirtualDub with VobSub textsub filter with no problem, but sometimes it refuses to load the .srt file for no reason that I can see. The video file loads, and everything goes fine until after clicking the .srt file, Open, but the resulting screen shows nothing in the box where the location of the .srt file usually shows. This just happened with 2 subtitles out of 20 for a series I am subbing. Thanks for any advice on how to fix or work around this.

  2. Text coding is ANSI, Unicode or UTF-8?
    Old TextSub not support UTF-8.

If these subtitles are encoded in UTF-8...
Open in Notepad and save as with change coding to ANSI.

Or... try latest DirectVobSub (from FileDescription: VobSub & TextSub filter for DirectShow/VirtualDub/Avisynth) - download VSFilter, change extension to .vdf and copy to VirtualDub plugins subfolder.

Thanks, Placio84, it was indeed the UTF encoding and is working fine now.
