I'm thinking about buying this camcorder... any comments on it? It has a view screen, movement stabalization, and it films decently in darkness.

It doesn't have a converter, so I can't play it on VHS... which is fine, because I'll probably just capture it to my computer and make VCDs.

So what do you guys think? Anyone ever buy it before? Try it? Like it? Any recommendations? The battery lasts about an hour since the LCD screen is always on (no view finder), which is fine. I'll buy a backup battery. It charges when you have the camera plugged into the wall. Plus I'll get a tripod and the 3 year warrantee. Any recommendations?

I would go to Mini-DV or D8 or DV.

    High-8 is an outdated format.

I have a D8 camera that records digitaly on tape. It can also play 8 and high 8 tapes.

It has a firewire out, but no video inputs.

Also, i noticed it doesn't record stero sound.

I dislike this model. 400x digital zoom may look good, but it really doesn't help.

Digital zoom, correct me if i'm wrong, works by the computer guessing what should be there in the enlarged image

  3. Can you please give me a little more advice? I'm not all that familiar with camcorders... but if you were to recommend one on BestBuy.com, please tell me which one you would recommend? I'm not looking to spend more than $300 on the camera itself.
