    Hey guys,

I just got this camera: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00322OP4K/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00

When I plug a regular mic into the external mic port, all I can hear when playing back the video is a static hissing noise. I think that's because the camera needs a mic with it's own power supply. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Having said that, I need to find a slip-on mic that has it's own power supply. Does not have to be wireless. I can't seem to find anything like that on amazon. I tried looking for dynamic mics, but those just come up as the kinds they use for karaoke. I need a mic for recording videos.

Can someone knowledgeable please point me in the right direction?

Got it. Thanks. However, can you please confirm that the static noise I get from, say, a mic like this: http://www.amazon.com/HDE-Computer-Clip--Mini-Microphone/dp/B001N0W2B6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=U...ds=clip+on+mic

Is it a result of it not having it's own power supply? It's not some camera defect is it?
