    I must confess I've never really had the patience for deinterlacing options when encoding. You didn't say how you want to play the avi file, but I just use the deinterlacing filters in my software player. SMplayer (almost always) or vlc, which both have many options for that. I just try the different options until I find one that works.

    3) normally i use FORMAT FACTORY for DVD to AVI file,
