I am in the early stages of setting up a video editing studio in one of the bedrooms.A while ago I bought a used ADVC300 and a couple of nights ago I decided to set it up. I connected a sony video 8 recorder to it with the red, yellow, and white phono 's ,and came out of it with a six pin dv cable and into my computer with the four pin on the other end. When I fired it up the two blue lights below the imput selector switch both lit up and pressing the switch itself had no effect, whereas it should toggle from analogue to digital. My editing software is Sony vegas movie studio platinum. All the dip switches are in the off position ,except 6 which is in the pal position. Hope someone can help me with this,i'm a newbie to video editing so not too tech minded .Alan

IIRC My ADVC would not respond like this either (and it was brand new)
My solution: Install the Picture Controller Software (even if you are not going to use it). Set Dip 8 to ON. Turn on the ADVC and you should get an options window (called by Windows) - cancel that. Start the Picture Controller Software that that should switch the unit to analogue. Well atleast it does with mine. -
I'm not sure if I have the picture controler cd,is it downloadable, kind regards, and thanks for the help.

It used to be downloadable from the Canopus(GrassValley) site. IIRC you had to register your product (as new) to get there. So I am not sure how you would manage with a used item.
You could always email Canopus. You may even get a reply (not the best when it comes to support) -
I did email Grass valley ,you were right they didn't reply. Is it possible to get a copy disc of the picture controler if someone has the original version.Regards Alan

Sought mod's permission first.
This rar is just the ADVC part of CD (pretty useless without the unit anyway)
