  1. Hi All,

I recorded footage with the Panasonic TM900 on its HA1920 settings which according to specs is shot in 60i.

When I view its properties with MediaInfo, it shows as 29.970 interlaced.

I then imported this footage into Premiere Pro, selecting the AVCHD 1080 60i sequence preset.
But the footage properties in PP also shows as 29.970 and there are only 30 discreet frames per second.

How do I get the 60 frames out of this footage?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

  2. 60i and 30i are just different names for the same thing. 30 frames per second, two fields per frame, ie 60 fields per second. Marketing just needed something that sounds better.

    Shouldn't that be 60i & 30p?
For the nth time, with the possible exception of certain Intel processors, I don't have/ever owned anything whose name starts with "i".

No. Why would you call 30 interlaced frames per second as 30p (or 60i, for that matter)?

Maybe it's also because marketing doesn't understand the difference between Frames and fields.

To answer your original question: You don't get 60 full frames per second out of this footage, unless you Deinterlace and Interpolate the missing lines (often a BAD idea).
Is there something WRONG with the footage that impels you to want to change it?

  7. I see, so at the end of the day 1080i60 footage still produces 30 discreet frames per second correct?

On a related note, what would be the best way to convert this existing 108060i footage to 1080p30 in Premiere Pro?

Have two machines, one running CA4 and another CS6. In CS4, I can create a 1080p30 sequence and drag the footage onto this timeline. The resulting image looks progressive which is what I want. However in CS6 when I perform this same action, I get the message "this clip does not match sequence settings..." I choose to keep sequence settings, but the footage is still interlaced.

Perhaps I'm doing this the wrong way, even in CS4. Would appreciate help on getting 1080i60 footage to 1080p30 when editing in Premiere Pro CS6.

    Correct.

By not using Premiere Pro. By all accounts its deinterlacer sucks. Much better would be to use a good AviSynth deinterlacer. That's if for some reason you absolutely have to deinterlace.
