    Hi there!

I want to embed subtitles in a MKV, How to do that without convert the MKV in DIVX?

The posts I read, it looks like to me that there is a conversion of the formats.

    Thanks.

    1) Demux the MKV with something like MKVExtractGUI 2.
    2) Remux the MKV and put the subtitles in it.

No conversion is necessary for this.

Now if by "embed" you mean "hardcode" then you will have to re-encode the video. But if you are OK with selectable subtitles (that means they can be turned on and off) then just demux and remux.

  3. There's no need to explicitly demux the tracks first. Just open the source with MMG, add the subtitle track, and save.

    Thanks Jman98 and Jagabo.

    I succeeded with the Matroska.

And now to finish how can I do the same ( insert subtitles ) to files .mp4 ?

Just a short note Re: jagabos comments about just adding items to an existing MKV with MMG. That was not always the case for me.

I always had problems with this procedure using earlier versions of MKVtoolNix. All of my Seagate players, even though my WD players didn't care, required that the original MKV be de-muxed if something was added or removed or they would not play the file.

With the recent versions of TooNix [those versions that were able to properly see the h264 framerate] that is no longer the case. Now with these new versions de-muxing is not needed for my Seagate players.

I mention because my Seagate players still have a problem with VC1 files files de-muxed with MKVExtractGUI2.

That program converts the VC1 Video file to an AVI and ToolNix uses the wrong method to re-mux the file resulting in a no play.

Now I can just leave the VC1 in the original MKV, remove whatever items I want, add what items I want , and it still plays in my players.
