    Hi Guys,

Having just focused on solving one problem ( audio noise ) , i end up with another.

I have started using smplayer to watch movies , using the in-built card on my pcb. having watched movies on my smaller 20 inch lcd 720p with no problems.

I connected my hdmi to the 32 inch 1080p full hd and the same movies ( any movie ) produces a kinda ghost streak effect . You can see it better in moving scenes .

I have down scaled from 1080p to sxga where the effect is much less obvious .

My top whack resolution is 1280 x 1024 , which is what the sxga gives me.

However, the picture quality is nowhere near as good as the 1080p .

my pc goes up to 1080i / 720p.

Any suggestions , see if smplayer - the tv or buy a better hdmi cable will do.

BTW : My setup - from my pc to a vga to hdmi converter to my tv. the converter is the Startechpro, with osd menus. tried them all .

    Thanks.

Try another player first, like splash, potplayer or mpchc.

VLC came with kubuntu in 2008 . I installed the windows portable version last week ( runs ok through wine - closes when i go to a file from playing and try and start another from the list ) , other than that it`s great.

Bad news is - even with codecs ready packed can`t get it to play h264 - 720p and 1080p fail badly !

The best media player for me is smplayer now that I fixed how to play files in the order i put them in.
