I have uninstalled this application, gone through regedit and deleted every reference to this toolbar and it is still appearing as my search engine .... hoping a member can help me get rid of this unwanted toolbar.

Which browser are you using? You may also need to change a setting in the browser itself.

Using Firefox. I installed Glary Ulilities a couple of nights ago, it had Ask Toolbar checked which I quickly unchecked. There is 1 file somewhere causing this problem however, I cannot find it. It isn't because I do not like the Toolbar it is simply because I did not install it and if I wanted it I would have done so. Fact is, I cannot stand applications appearing on my computer that I haven't installed, I hate the fact that this application has been forced on me.

There are any number of programs that pre-select the option to install the Ask toolbar along with the software you want to install, and it is easy to miss. I installed the Ask toolbar by mistake once. I think I uninstalled Ask using Control Panel Add/Remove Programs, then had to remove the toolbar from the browser.
Try right-clicking on the empty area beside the browser tabs. If the Ask toolbar is listed, deselect it. If that doesn't help, select "Customize" and click on the "Restore Default Set" button. If you have customized anything else, it will have to be restored afterwards. -
right next to the search engine icon in firefox is a dropdown arrow. click it and then select manage. you can delete it from the available engines.

To all members who responded to my cry for help .... problem solved.
Thank you, appreciated.Cheers from downunder. -
The answer was to remove ask.com by selecting options in the toolbar of the browser and removing it. It never entered my head it was the chosen home page. I uninstalled the app. removed every entry in regedit and believed that would do the job .... anyway, that's history now. I might add within the control panels google.com was my home page, the browser never entered my head.

to remove completely you view the process running on your pc while you are browsing and up running all applications you want. then if you do not know which process pertains to what, you search on Internet for particular process. finally you gonna end up with un-wanted process - i mean ask tool bar, find out the location (system temp or whatever) folder and delete the cause.
