    Hey everyone,

My name is Brent and this is my first time posting in this forum but after going through tons and tons of forums trying to find a resolution for my problem I not only did not find the answer I needed, but you guys and gals seemed to be the most helpful and the most knowledgable.

    Notes:
    Recording XBOX 360 Gameplay
Using the Universal Component HD AV Cables (Works for 360, PS3 & Wii)
Using the stock software that comes with the unit

    Here is the issue:

When I start capturing video on my computer it records (when it records) for a period of 3-5 minutes and then the screen goes black. Sometimes when I hit stop it will save the video and sometimes it will not.

    What I have done:
Changed my XBOX360 settings to 1080i, had the same problem
Changed my 360 settings to 720p, had the same problem
Uninstalled & Reinstalled the drivers, had the same problem
Uninstalled & Reinstalled the software, had the same problem
Checked every fourm (well maybe not them all, lol) and tried almost all the tricks, had the same problem

The only thing that seems to work is to unplug the power to the unit, power it back on, refresh the software and boom it works again.

So I think it is not a set up problem since it works for a few minutes but something else and I'm hoping you guys can help!

    Thanks,
    Brent

    Try other software Brent.

Use AMARECTV or VH CAPTURE to this.

Its a USB interface?? Select HIGH PERFORMANCE on Windows energy schema.

    Try another component cable.

    Thanks Claudio,

I will try other software you listed.

It is a USB interface, I will also try the High Performance thing as well.

I do not have another component cable, but I may pick one up today to try it.

    I do have an update:

I talked to Hauppauge Tech support just now and told them the issue I was having, everything I did to try and fix the issue, and their answer was that I may just have a bad unit.

They also said that they were having issues with this unit and USB 3.0. I have both a USB 3.0 and a USB 2.0 and tried it in both so that eliminited that issue for me.

From what others have said about their HD PVR, it isn't unusual for them to need to be power cycled after being left on for days at a time. If this is not the case, you should RMA yours while it is still under warranty.

  6. With 8 GB of RAM, you must be running Win7 64-bit.

Not too long ago, I built a new computer and loaded Win7 64-bit as the OS. Had a deal of trouble getting it to work. (It was fine with XP, then Win7 32-bit).

What I did: Installed the Hauppauge driver version 1.6.29207.0, then the latest TME update. Reboot and voila!

You could try that one more time before giving up. Good luck.

[EDIT] That thing about power cycling: very true.

Awesome! I almost gave up complete hope. I'll try this tonight for sure. Were you having some of the same problems as me or were yours different?

  8. Well, it was a real clusterfuck and I'm not sure I can reconstruct the chronology. My memory may be at fault, but here goes:

Hooked up the HD-PVR and up pops the new hardware notification, etc. Put in the original install disc (few years old) and Windows couldn't find an appropriate driver. So I tried a driver update (first driver revision), which seemed to "take" okay. This was the driver I was using on 32-bit Win7 I believe. (I have a folder in my downloads with all the support files and drivers I saved since I bought the unit. And all versions of TME as well.) Installed TME from disc, rebooted and updated it, rebooted. Opened up the capture module, and it started working, then suddenly quit.

After several uninstall/re-installs, reboots, registry cleanups, still nothing. Tried compatibility mode, installed as administrator, nothing. Finally tried driver version 1.6.29207.0, installed last TME update version, rebooted, and it worked. Still works. (I double-checked current driver version in Device manager). So I haven't bothered getting a later driver version.

I just checked and they don't have that driver on their website any more. The zip file is 3.9 MB. If you don't have any luck finding it, send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it to you. But I should think that the latest driver version ought to have worked.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

  9. Apparently a zip file attachment is okay if it's under 30 MB. Let's see if this works:

    hdpvr_1.6.29207.zip
