Please help... Importing problems with Studio 14HD and my Panasonic HVX200

I just got a new (to me) camera and this is the first time I'm trying to edit video with it. I have it connected via firewire..(and I tried USB too)...It recognizes my camera but it says, "failed to get video from device" I tried rebooting my computer and that didn't work. I can't get any help from Avid/Pinnacle support because I can't find my disc. Any suggestions???? I've connected with firewire and USB also.

it's a pro format cam - DVCpro HD. you will most likely need vegas pro11 or avid express pro. if you are using the p2 cards then get the pana p2 viewer software. if you only use it as an SD cam you can use the tape section as it only functions as a miniDV cam then and you could capture the tape using winDV.

The HVX-200 is intended to be used in two modes.

1. DVCproHD format to P2 flash RAM. P2 cards can be read though PCMCIA card slots at the computer.

2. 720x480i DV format to MiniDV tape. These can be captured normally with Firewire (e.g. with WinDV).

DVCProHD files will be in Panasonic's version of the MXF wrapper. You will need compatible edit software. Among them are ...

Vegas Pro with Raylight plug-in
AVID Media Conposer.
Final Cut Pro for Mac.

You can also capture analog component or SDI with AJA Xena/Kona
