I just recently backup allmy dvd's into my PC, I used AnyDVD software and removed all extras, just keepingthe movie. I was playing my first movie and when it reach half way, as onechapter finished, it went back to the beginning of the movie. If I skip beforethe end of that chapter it does continue with the normal progression of themovie, but if I leave it running normally it goes back to the beginning.

I don't know if all moviesare like this or only this one. Is there a way to edit this and fix it?

I am going to check othermovies later and see if this a problem with all, is there a way to avoid thissince the beginning?

    Regards

    Gabriel

Moving you to our dvd ripping/backup section.

How did you remove the extras? Just AnyDVD can't do that.

Yes, you can use dvd shrink. Select Open files and choose the video_ts folder.

ok, so it wasn't that easy. I tried the movie that skips and I get an error in DVD shrink.

"DVD shrink ecountered an error an cannot continue.

    Failed to read file E:"

I had this error in two movies already.

is there anything I can do?

Are you running anydvd in the background? DVD SHrink can't handle newer dvds.

Another solution would be to use dvdfab dvd copy. It can copy the main movie. Not free though.

I decided to backup the whole movie, I thought this was going to fix the indexing problem, still the movie goes back to the beginign at the end of a giving chapter. this seems to be a bigger issue that just eliminating the extras.

is this problem normal? or I am doing something wrong here?

Are you launching the movie by using a .VOB file? If so, don't. Launch it with the VIDEO_TS.IFO file.

dvdfab dvd copy shouldn't reconvert the video if you just strip the extras and don't do any shrinking.

And as olyteddy mentions, be sure to play the video_ts folder or ifo file if you play on your computer. Use for example vlc or mpchc.

I am using Windows Media Center to play the movies, It picks the file by it self, I asusme the right one? This is under my file structure of my videos and subfolders for movie, etc.

some movies are working fine, but other still skip or repeat some chapters.

    stil can't find the solution.
