hey so im very new to all of this but i do understand alot of the basics, im gonna give a list of what my tv has and my laptop has (hardware/software specs but the basic problem im having is this : im thinknig bout purchasing a hauppauge HDPVR like the 1 in this link >>http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/hauppauge-hauppauge-1212-hd-pvr-receiver-1212/1...5ce92965e0en02 ive read alot of good things about it and so far ive seen alot of people recommend it my only problem would be is that 1. my television ( a toshiba 26" hdtv doesnt have a S-Video input but it has 2 HDMI inputs aswell as the component (red blue green/red yellow and white) inputs and the hauppauge has an S video but not a HDMI input..im wondering how i would set that up becuz im not gonna go and buy a S video component cable for my xbox 360 when my tv doesnt have S-Video 2. my laptop is 1. made by acer 2. is 1.6 ghz(im not a real big computer person so i dont know what that means i think it has something to do with video playback ahd 3. it doesnt have a HDMI port but it has 3 USB and 1 VGA port(s) as well as the standerd internet port wifi headphone and microphone ect...so my basic theory is i saw a DYNEX composite video to S video converter..would that help at all? if anyone can give me a full description on what i need to do here it would be greatly appreciated i would be very thankful to anyone who can spend their time to give me a FULL description of what i need to do thankyou

The Hauppauge HDPVR 1212 has red-blue-green component video (plus stereo and optical S/PDIF audio) input and pass-through connections on the back side of the case. Look at the Hauppauge HD PVR at newegg.ca to see the correct view showing these connections. You would connect the HD PVR 1212's component inputs to the game system and the component pass through to the TV, and do the same with the audio connections you want to use.
[Edit]Sorry, I had to leave for an appointment. Because the CPU is on the weak side, your laptop may have difficulty playing back recordings if its graphics card cannot decode h.264 video. If you can provide the laptop's model number, perhaps someone here can find out if it is capable of playing back the H.264 files produced by the HD PVR 1212.
[Edit 2]There is another version of the HD PVR, the HD PVR 01445, that comes with universal game-system and A/V component cables for a bit more than the 1212. The HD PVR 01445 itself is the same as the HDPVR 1212, but has green LEDs. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815116074Last edited by usually_quiet; 19th Dec 2011 at 15:30.

I have a video capture device for xbox but my tv doesnt have rgb inputs for the viseo. Does anyone know if I can use both RCA and RGB outs from the xbox at the same time?

If I recall correctly from an earlier thread, the Xbox 360 can output 480i (SD) video simultaneously over its component and composite, or S-Video ports. However, if you use an HD resolution, then the only one of the three available analog connections that will supply a signal is component. The other analog connections won't be active. If you try to use the XBox 360's HDMI connections, then none of the analog connections will be active.
