  1. I was wondering if anyone here knows of any or has any converters that still uses the Xvid 1.1.2 codec , the reason is that i want to convert some documentaries to watch on my tv through my dvd player the problem is when i convert the videos using any xvid codec above 1.1.2 the video stops at about the 1hr 46min period. The only encoder i have found to be able to convert video in the Xvid 1.1.2 codec is VirtualDubMod but my audio goes way out of sync so that's why i wondering if anyone could help me out, any suggestions would be deeply appreciated.

Have you tried autogk ? That uses whatever Xvid codec is installed.

Mind you that uses vdubmod but I would say that this is not the source of your audio problem. Try constant bitrate rather than variable bitrate for the audio.

  3. I use staxrip that has vdubmod integrated and i use ABR not VBR.

Never used that. ABR = Average Bit Rate ? = Variable Bit Rate ?. I see CBR which would be Constant Bit Rate. But try what has been suggested.

Some DVD players that support Divx/Xvid have limitations on the size of the files they play. Keep your encodes to under 2 GB for best results. And use CBR audio to avoid sync problems. ABR is close enough to VBR to cause sync issues with some players. For best compatibility you should also not use GMC, QPEL or bit packing on your encodes.

  6. My encode settings comply with all that you have suggested but somehow the video only plays out it's full length when i use videos with the 1.1.2 codec and prior to that any after will cause it to freeze.

Did you not read the issue with ABR ?

Post a mediainfo report of a typical video that you can not play.

I DID, i always use to use Constant i only started using ABR since using vdubmod and i recoded a video using CBR and it was still out of sync i am starting to believe it is a problem with the demuxer since i only have this problem when converting .mp4 videos.

So the problem is with the source video, wouldn't you agree? Maybe the video is VBR. Please post a MediaInfo text file from the source MP4 video.

  10. it seems that the source video is Variable but i converted it with format factory and used constant and it was in sync unlike the encode from VirtualDubMod

So the bottom line is that these conversions are not from dvds. Which is why I suggested autogk. Vdubmod is for Mpeg2 not Mpeg-4 or whatever you have in those mp4s.

And if these mp4s are downloaded then I am outa here.

Which proves nothing. Maybe Format Factory knows how to natively handle the VBR video. VDubMod will only do what you tell it. It knows nothing. And, like DB83, one wonders how you got it to encode from an MP4 to begin with. Anyway, a proper AviSynth script opened in VDubMod can easily do the trick.

In any event, the point I was originally trying to make was that, unlike your claims of the audio being responsible, the real problem was with the source video.

  13. yeah but my main concern was not wholely based upon audio out of sync the purpose of this thread was to figure out a way to convert these videos to Xvid 1.1.2 since they are the only ones that seem to play out.

If you're up to learning MeGUI, the XviD version that's built in (it uses xvidencraw as opposed to VirtualDub to encode) is 1.2.1 (with VAQ) as far as I recall, which is extremely stable. Maybe give it a try ...?
