How to capture gameplay from XBOX360 to AVERTV capture card

Bought a new AverTV captureHD card today. Installed onto my computer which seems to have worked fine. plugged the HDMI cable in from the XBOX but can't get a picture just a black screen. Does anyone know how to set this up?

Make sure you have the HDMI cable plugged into the correct port. Both ports look like HDMI ports, but one is for HDMI and the other is for the analog capture cables. The AverTV Capture HD isn't sold sold int the US, but we have is a similar device that lacks a DVB-T tuner, and alternate capture software that works for it is AmaRecTV and Virtualdub. That is all the advice I have.

There is no default input when running the accompanied software product ... there should be an option to switch from av to hdmi input ... I would recommend setting the xbox360's output to 480 and try again.
