first vcd didnt work... need a little help.

Ok, i started with a divx avi, the used tmpgenc and made it into mpeg1. It took about 4 hours. I then burned it to a 700 mb generic grey/blue bottomn cd-rw (my dvd player can only read cd-rw) I stick the disk into my dvd player and nothing shows up, the numbers on the dvd player were moving as if it were playing, but i saw nothing (just the sony dvd logo) After that, i tried to play the .dat file on my computer and it plays a black screen for the whole 57 minutes. I used nero 5.5 to burn, can someone suggest what is wrong, or tell me how to check if my mpg is compatible??? thankyou im VERY frustrated

i presume you used the video cd pal mpeg-1 template before you started. when it finished coverting did you see if it was a movie clip mpeg-1 let me know how you got on.

Hey, thx for the reply sparrow... now i KNOW i did something wrong because i have no idea what you are talking about... i opened my avi in tmpgenc and then followed the instructions on the how to convert page for tmpgenc. Can you please explain thx
