Hi guys.... I've been trying a few screen capture programs for video but haven't come across one that suits all my needs.

    Tried the below already:

Jing - good, but it only captures a max of 5 mins on the free option and will only capture to SWF in the free version as well (HUGE files).

Webcam and Screen Recorder - Sounded good, but options in the program seem to be screwed up and aren't readable

CaptureWiz - Good program, however the size of the output files are MASSIVE.

So basically I'm looking for a program that is either free or has a free trial (preferably a trial and no watermarks) that will:

    1. No limit on record time
    2. Output files in a compressed format
    3. Record sound such as "What you hear".

    Thanks a lot!

  5. options => do not record audio

    make sure that is uncheckmarked

also check the other audio options, if you have a mic, you need to configure that as well

Yep. That is unticked. I'm trying to record the sound from my PC speakers and when it runs through to find the line it isn't finding anything.

  7. What version are you using?

Apparently recording from speakers isn't available in some versions

Ok tried that...... it didn't automatically find the line but I searched manually and line 1 worked; however upon playing the video I got no sound.

  11. According to google search, version 2 also has that sound problem. If you do not have stereo mix on your computer, and most new computers don't have it anymore, then you can't get sound with camstudio.

Hope someone here can prove me wrong. I can't find the solution.

    How modern is 'modern' ?

My system is <2 years old and the Realtek HD Audio mixer has 'Stereo Mix'

Just a suggestion, experiment with the volume settings from the audio tab on Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices. You may have to physically set the recording device from there.
