hi there...
i have a capture card and have been successfuling capturing dvd's for the past few months and obtaining a reasonable vdo image quality. i'm thinking now of getting a dvd player for my computer instead of hooking up an external dvd player to capture video.
my dilema is that, do you get better quality as a result of dvd ripping rather than vdo capturing it thru the use of a capture card?
thanks in advance...

Yes you'll get better results from ripping over captureing. It may take longer. Make sure you use a good video encoder. TMPGENC, Cinemacraft,Panasonic,Honestech are a few. Tmpgenc is free or was free anyway i think they produce retail versions now. www.tmpgenc.com
