hello,
Glad to be at the forum.
Just bought a Fuji film AX 230 dig camera w/ video HD
after using it for a few days and taking video in both 680 and HD 1280 modes I am seeing slanted lines on various horizontal features on the vid. such as fence railings buildings etc.
What is this?
Also video is freezing every few seconds for a half sec upon playback on a pc. I have dumped vid to several PCs with the same result upon playback.
What could this be ?
It is a decent little camera, stillshots are pretty good quality.I tend to take alot of scenic video and these problems are annoying enough to possibly return the camera.
thanks in advance

scrnshot off my pc note the jagged slanting lines on the track rails as the video rolls they move around some. AS you can see in the video as I pan across the scene the playback does this stop motion kinda thing every few secs. Even seems to do it as i record video on camera thru lcd preview . Cam settings are ntsc 640 or hd 1280 Battery level is full, option for digital or optical set on digital.
video is here at :

Will get a better vid up layer today.
Also I notice the freezing when actually taking the vid too, seeing it in the lcd as I record.
and will look for the delacer setting in VLC , does WMP have one as well?
I had an inexpensive Sanyo digi camera with video ( not HD) It's videos played great without any of the jagged lines or freezing.
Why would this be? A different type of video formatting? -
Try uploading a native sample , unprocessed, straight from the camera. You can uploading it directly here if <30MB, or use a free hosting site e.g. mediafire.com
When youtube re-encodes it, it's harder to tell if the problems were from youtube re-encoding it or the camera in the first place

It's hard to say without more information on what settings you used or camera operation mode etc.... You might have inadvertently recorded interlaced vs. progressive for example. It might be sensor related - some cameras have very poor sampling and leave lots of aliasing or those jaggy edges. It could be many things. Start by uploading the native clip -
lookup "rolling shutter distortion". it's a cmos chip problem. always use a tripod, pan slowly and never record from a moving vehicle.

The sample video does have occasional duplicate frames. But at 24 fps that wouldn't cause half second jerks, just 1/12 second jerks. But since its reencoded by youtube there's no way to know if it's youtube's fault or in the original video.

The 1/2 second freeze may be not accurate
My old Sanyo VPC S1070 $80 digi cam had video on it and it never did any of these problems even when recording from a car.
AS for using a tripod most of my vid scenes are shot while traveling hand held so those methods do not work for me.
