Strangest Subtitle workshop glitch

I've been using SW 2.5.1 for few years now, never had complaint. Suddenly i'm getting the weird glitch: subtitles can not be seen in the "text" field of the main window, only in the small bottom window. Here is the picture to make it clear:

I tried reinstalling few times but to no avail. This makes SW almost completely unusable. I'm on Win 7 x64. Any ideas? Or am i missing something really stupid?

First suggestion would be to try saving the subs, I would try saving as srt in ANSI.

Well for now the picture dose not make sense as yet ... there is no subtitle text in the lower pane, only the timings ... load a subtitle which has text and take another snapshot.

The OP has a line highlighted, and there is text in the edit window, so there is text in that line of the file. OP needs to change the text from "default" to pretty much anything else (ANSI, Cyrillic, EastEurope) to see the characters displayed properly. Try it for yourself load subtitle Workshop 2.51 and create a new subtitle file set the type as default.

Thanks dragonkeeper! That worked. Somehow the "show in main form" option in Settings/charsets menu was unchecked. Stupid me!
