  1. Using MacTheRipper, I ripped a chapter. It had Directors commentary over it. I don't want this.

I've looked on other forums, and they say to Demux to solve this problem. But when I demux, I just get three AC3 files and one MV2 file.
I'm looking to get a VOB file, because then I can convert this to an MP4 file, which I can use.

    What should I do?

What do you convert to mp4 with? In for example handbrake can you choose the audio stream. Be sure to select to open a dvd and select the video_ts folder with the vob files.

  3. OK, I've downloaded Handbrake, and there are no issues as far as audio is concerned when I rip the scene. So, that problem is solved.

However, it does NOT rip into MP4. When I select MP4 as the output format, the file name displayed in the "Destination" bar is .MV4, not MP4.
The MV4 file works fine in VLC player. But in iTunes and Quicktime it only plays sound, no vid.

I'm not bothered about the format, as long as it works in iMovie. But when I import it, it says "importing" and then does nothing.
I've tried changing the file name in Handbrake to .MP4, but this still does not work in iMovie.

  4. Ok, got it. If you want handbrake to make MP4 files, then you need to go into preferences and uncheck the box next to where it says "Use iPod/iTunes friendly (.m4v) file extension for MP4". Then, on the main of handbrake you need to go to the drop-down menu for Video Codec and make sure it's on "MPEG-4 (FFmpeg)". Then, once this is done, you must manually change the end of the file name to .mp4

    This should work.

MP4 isn't as high quality as M4V, but it doesn't really matter - it's still very high quality, and, unlike M4V, CAN be used in iMovie.

    Problem Solved.
