    Hi;

    I'm very new into the world of ffmpegX and I have been having some difficulty with the conversion of a couple of mp4 files. I've loaded the files into the application selected my target format which I want to use mpeg2 (because that is the format that toast uses when burns dvd and I have found it quicker to convert the file before burning because toast takes a very long time to convert it itself) and then I press encode. Everything seems to go fine and the conversion starts. What is worrying me is if I access the converted file while it is being converted it seems to not have any audio. The video works fine but the audio does not seem to work.

    My question is: is there no audio because I am accessing the file in the middle of being converted and the audio will be there if I finish the conversion, or is the audio just not being converted? In that case I would need help. Is there something I am missing?

    If anyone can help, I would be really grateful.

    Thank you in advance for your time and your knowledge.

    This is normal and expected behavior. For this type of conversion, ffmpegX converts the video first. When that is done, it converts the audio. When both are done, it combines both video and audio into a single file, and deletes the temp files.
