I have a bunch of episodic shows on dvd. I want to edit out the commercials and create a new dvd with menu. My dvd recorder is a magnavox mdr513h/f7. I used womble mpeg-vcr to cut out the commercials and create a .mpg file. for each title.

I found a simple, free program to author dvd with menus called, DVD Album 1.2.3.40

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Authoring-tools/Authoring-Related/DVD-Album.shtml

The description says, DVD Album will allow you to import several DVD .MPG video files, create a simple menu and burn them to a DVD video disc.
You can change menu thumbnails and captions, select the background picture and different video options.

Sounds perfect so I downloaded it, and I tried to open my .mpg video and I got the following message:
the selected mpeg-2 video file does not contain dvd-specific extensions
I don't know what that means. How do I correct it to make it compatible?
Is there a guide for this?
    Thanks!

If your mpgs aren't dvd compatible( see www.videohelp.com/dvd#tech and identify your mpg properties with mediainfo) you must reconvert with for example avstodvd. It can output mpg files or to a dvd-video directly(with a simple menu).
