Was the original video jerky? If you step through the frames of the VOB file one by one is it jerky? Ie, are there repeated frames or sudden big jumps in movement?

I dont really know if orig video was jerky as left it to convert. How do I step through the frames of the VOB files.

it starts off ok then so far into movie it jerks and sound is out of sync, yes it seems sudden jumps its worst further on as music is playing but person is talking

  6. So you don't have the source anymore? If your conversion to VOB went wrong you probably won't be able to do much about it. You can use a program like VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod to step through the VOB frame by frame. Use the left/right arrow keys.

  7. yes i do still have the video tape and have tried again but the tape must be sticking in the recorder somehow. but you say use Virtual Dub and to step through the VOB frame by frame. Use the left/right arrow keys.

I have tried L/R arrow keys but they dont seem to do anything. what do I put movie on to get in in sync with audio and video

Did you open the VOB file with VirtualDub? Do you see the video in the input and output panes? Can you scrub through the video with the slider? Then the arrow keys should step through frame by frame.

You may need the MPEG 2 source plugin for VirtualDub. You might as well download the plugin pack:
