Fps

  1. Hello,

I would like to know if:
Can i combine two 60FPS to get 120FPS to achieve smooth slow motion video?

I would like to make video with smooth slow motion parts in it and don't have cash to spare to buy high speed camera but have two still shot with video option cameras that i can use for now. Trying to work with what i got. Oh and also would like to know how to get like that dark video effect that the movie 300 and Gladiator has? By the way i have Adobe CS5 Master Collection

Combine two 60 fps what? Give an example. How are you getting the 1/120 sec motion samples?

  3. i have two of the same camera. So i can take those two cameras position them to record the same thing. So then i have two 60FPS so my question is can i combine them both to have a 120FPS video. Like a video composite.

  4. In theory you could do it if you could sync the cameras exactly half a frame (1/120th second) apart and use a fast shutter speed. In practice that's probably not practical. You will also have parallax problems since the cameras will be in slightly different positions.

You're probably better of getting something like a Casio FH100 or Sanyo VPC-FH1 which can shoot at high speeds (but reduced resolution).

There is a program called Twixtor that will interpolate the extra frames to give you slow motion from your 60fps video. There are also plugins and scripts for Avisynth (free) that will do it also.

  6. Yes, there are programs that use motion estimation to create in-between frames. But they only work well with some types of material -- panning shots simple objects moving across a background. With complex motions they often deliver odd artifacts. Check out AviSynth's Double FPS or Smooth FPS.
