  1. I have an old version of Streamclip on my G4 Mac, and recently tried to convert a 16:9 dvd which it did, but squeezed. Another forum told me that there is a 16:9 under the blue OPTION button but mine didn't open at all. So I ended up putting the video into FCP and distorted it to something close to 16:9, looks fine but I want to know if my Streamclip needs updating?

1/ You didn't mention what version your "old version" is.
2/ The latest version of MPEG Streamclip, even the beta, is compatible with Mac OS X 10.2 and later, QT6 and later, according to the system requirements on the site. There is no reason not to update, so you may benefit from the latest fixes and added features.
3/ You can have multiple versions on your system, just keep 'em in different folders.
4a/ For DVD to FCP, you may want to export to DV (.dv). MPEG Streamclip's Export to DV window has an Aspect Ratio drop down menu for "4:3" or "16:9".
4b/ For DVD to FCP, you may want to export to QuickTime (.mov) > Compression 'DV'. The Movie Exporter window has an Options button to a next window with an Aspect Ratio drop down menu for "4:3" or "16:9".
    It works on my G4...

  4. Hope this is the right place, my post was moved to Mac forum. I have Streamclip 1.7 and when I use AppleDV/DVCPRO NTSC I have the blue button but it doesn't do anything when I click on it. Have tried this several times. However, I did follow you suggestion to create a DV file straight to FCP and the 16:9 worked perfectly.
