I have Firefox 5 and have been scared to upgrade because there were problems I read about with newer versions. Adobe Flash Player asked me to upgrade to the version 11.3 this morning and I did and since then I haven't be able to play YouTube videos in Firefox. I can however play them in Internet Explorer. I have liked to play them in Firefox because Orbit Downloader intergrates better in that browser. I can still download videos if I right click on a screenshot that takes you to play the video by selecting copy video link and dropping that into Freemake Video Downloader. Should I upgrade to the latest Firefox? Would that fix the problem? Is the new Firefox stable and doesn't cause problems with a person's computer?
Is there a way to go back to the previous Adobe Flash that did work for me?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me concerning this issue.

You need to understand that you are badly out of date on Firefox and your version does not contain security fixes for later releases. Some of the security fixes were for problems that I would call "heinous" or "very serious". Firefox's current update model breaks plugins so if your concern is plugin related, maybe you just need to prioritize what's important to you - living without security fixes or living temporarily without some plugins until their programmers get them updated and certified to work.
You could install Google Chrome. They build Flash into the browser and you might be able to just use it for this kind of thing.
I used to use Orbit but they made some changes that in my opinion were for the worse and I don't use it anymore. StreamTransport usually works for me if I want to get a YouTube video. -
jman98: Thank you for your advice. I have updated to the latest Firefox. I can now play videos on YouTube. I was going to update Orbit Downloader but Norton is giving me a warning that the file hoaster that has Orbit Downloader is a dangerous website to go to. I will go to CNET and read up on Orbit Downloader to read about any issues. Once again thank you. I don't use Orbit all that much anymore I have been quite pleased with Freemake Video Downloader. I do use Stream Transport on occasion as well.

Norton may be giving you a false positive there on Orbit.
I usually just use the download helper firefox plugin for stream downloading, but I don't do anything fancy. -
I had a very similar thing happen two days ago.
First I got a VMWare update notification for my virtual machine (I only get on the net on this computer via my VM). Okay, did the update, shut down the VM and rebooted, host OS first. Upon reboot of the VM, got an Adobe Flash Player update notification. Grrr, okay did that too. Rebooted again and couldn't play YouTube flash videos in Firefox. Wasn't sure at first which update busted flash in Firefox, but the obvious thing to try was a Firefox update.
Doing the Firefox update fixed it, of course. [shrugs]Pull! Bang! Darn! -
Even on the latest Firefox, some users are still having problems with Flash Player 11.3.
