  1. I was lucky enough to pick up a few Sony PVM-20L5 20" CRT HD monitors. They support everything from 480i all the way to 1080i (CRTs apparently can't do 1080p). I don't have a Blu-ray player but the picture is fantastic even at 480p.

The component connections can be switched to RGB input. I've been trying to hook one up to a computer to watch videos on but so far have had no luck. Using a D-sub to 5 BNC cable at 640x480 or 1920x1080 I get a picture but its off color, torn, and runs from the middle of the screen and wraps around the other side. I've tried hooking the H or V sync to the external sync connector but that doesn't fix it.

Can anyone who has one of these or a similar model tell me how to get this working or if its even possible? I'm still hunting for the manual.

Video monitors like the PVM-20L5 don't support computer RGB video. The "Sync" input is for vertical sync. There is no H Sync input. The RGB input is for connecting to video capture cards, VTRs, and other professional video equipment that are 4:4:4 RGB compatible.

How many did you pick up, and are you willing to part with any?

  3. Thanks, after awhile I figured it just wasn't going work for a computer. I got two and sold one. I'm selling the second one but I'd prefer to do it locally. Send me a PM if you're interested, I might ship it for the right price. I've been using it to watch DVDs while on the treadmill - not exactly its original purpose.
