I have a 3.4 GB .avi file that I'd like to encode to mpeg1 for vcd. I've tried several encoder and all of them only encode .avi smaller than 2GB. Help anyone !!

Open the AVI in VirtualDub and frameserve to the encoder. ( see the 'HOW TO's on the left. One of them will have the details. Sorry I'm not sure which. Probably CONVERT.
