  1. Hello all I'm new,

I recently started to back my blurays up into .mkv files. All goes smootly but I have issues rewinding/fastforwarding using my bluray player. My bluray player plays .mkv fine, if I use handbreak to encode the file I can rewind fine!

My method to create the file is rip the bluray using MakeMKV to decrypt it then use ripbot264 to encode it and change audio codec to AAC for my mkv player. Like I say handbreak allows rewind fine but ripbot doesn't, I want to use ripbot as handbreak is unstable for me.

Anyone have any idea what this could be!? Please help

  2. max keyframe interval is too long for your player ; set it shorter but you'll lose some compression efficiency

the default for blu-ray is 1 sec GOP, so --keyint 24

not sure what handbrake uses, but ripbot uses 250 by default

  3. Thanks for the reply,

I will go and find where I change this now, you mentioned it will effect the compression, what way will it do so?

less efficient compression - i.e. lower quality at a given bitrate

you can compensate by using higher bitrates

  5. Thanks

Higher bitrate isn't a issue for me I try to use 12mb for each. Do u know where to change the keyframe in ripbot?
