    I need to convert a file (the new starwars ad which is an mov widescreen). how can i convert it to vcd mpg compliant video but keep the aspect ratio. in otherwords how can i add the blackbars to the top and bottom. oh and can any replies be keept to freeware software unless other software is absolutly needed.

    Yup, same way you would with a regular DVD to VCD converion, tell TMPGEnc your source is 16:9 Display and that will fix it up for you.

    ok i tried setting the source as 16:9 but it still streches the image out to convert it

    Make sure to set the arrange method to "Full Screen (Preserve Aspect Ratio)" It'll then letterbox it for you.
