I ripped "The Matrix" to my hard drive with Smartripper, where PowerDVD 4.0 plays it just fine. However, when I view the VOBs with any other software (such as Win Media Player2), there is a point where everything goes haywire for a couple of seconds (it is in the scene where Trinity is about to get handcuffs slapped on her at the beginning) - there are brief repeats, and some bad pixelization. There may be other scenes like this, but I stopped using the other software once I saw this happen.
I see in DVDecryper where it gives the option to "Correct mastering errors". Has anyone else experienced this and were you able to "work-around" this? I have the movie down to 4.93GB, which is about 5% too big for a DVD-R. I can't transcode it until these scenes get corrected.

use ifoedit on the vts_2 ifo and click vob extras ... tell it to remove seamless branching and select stream 1 to keep .. if you notice their are alot of cells not checked ( 5 and 9 come to mind ( 5 is the switch from where she gets handcufed to where the bullet time jump happens ) ) ... the cells dont esist on the orginal vobs .... they are acctully re-maped in the vts_01_1 vob and are used in the follow the white rabbit version of the film ... get voberator and open vts_02_1.vob and you will see what i mean. .... this is assuming you did a backup copy with smartripper and didnt rename the orginal files
I have been messing with martix for a few days now so at this point i think i know just about every cell and switch in the whole damn thing ( even know where their are a few menu commands hidden :-0 ) .... just an fyi to save you the calc time ... if you remepg the video stream , 81% will allow you to fit the movie and chapter menu on 1 dvd-r with 1 audio track and no subtitles -
How do I reinsert the original chapters and menu if I ripped the movie into streams? After I ReMPEGed the video stream I only have a bare movie with no chapters or anything? I have the VOB with the chapter scenes but how do I put them back in the right place?

i think i'm 1 step away from bringing the bitrate down in tmpgenc and then building the dvd in maestro. ... keeping menus and then correct branch may still be beyond ifoedit ... but the menus are in VTS_02_0 .. so if you put that back in the dir and do a "get vt sectors" hitting the menu button does bring it back ( just tried it .. it's the wrong menu but thats just a matter for finding the jump point in the ifo .. point is the menus are still accessable) ... hmmm ... i didnt have ifoedit create new ifo's when i striped .. i think thats why they still 02 and not renamed to 01 .. it just copied the orginal ones to the new dir and updates the cell address's ... i think
i'm really starting to hate this dvd ( but it's defenitly a good one to learn just about everything to do with riping ) ....
