Alright so I have a video in which I wanted to crop out 3 parts of, and then join those parts together, leaving the rest of the video behind. I've done this a few times before, but the same problem happens.
I cut out each piece at the same framerate etc, and name them part1.avi, part2.avi, and part3.avi
Then I go file "open", open up part 1.... then I go file "append", grab part 2, then "append", and grab part 3.... I do a direct stream copy as I don't need to re-compress the 3 parts, just join them together.
However, every time, it ends up like this:
PART1--PART2--PART3--PART3.
Why does part 3 always end up on there twice at the end??
Thanks!

Virtualdub might auto append if you have named them like that. You can try deselect "Automatically load linked segments" when you open the avi.

Yup, that fixed it. Thank you kindly!
While I'm here, maybe you know: Virtualdub is great when I want to crop out part of a video file, but what program does the same thing (as easily) for MKV/h.264 etc.? Like all the 720p stuff... Virtualdub says .mkv is an unknown/unsupported file type.
