  1. Hello everyone

I created my first VCD and I burned the CD using Roxio Eazy CD Creator. I can play the VCD on Windows Media Player, however, it doesn't play when I launch my WinDVD. Would anyone know what's wrong?

I'm running a Dell Pentium 4 with 256Meg RAM, and the WinDVD was preinstalled by Dell.

    Thanks in advance

have you configure it correct to play vcd from you current cd/dvd-rom? or else you could just open the .dat file in the mpegav folder.

  3. Hi Baldrick

Thanks for the reply. What would I have to configure, the WinDVD? If so, how would you configure it to play vcd?

  4. I am not familiar with Roxio Easy CD Creator but you have to have the appropriate file structure for WinDVD to run the VCD. I use Nero (which from what I have read on this and other forums is the best buring program) and my VCD's work great in WinDVD. A VCD expects the video file to be located in the /mpegav directory and be named avseq01.dat. Does Roxio create this file structure?

  5. Yes Roxio Easy CD Creator also creates the /mpegav directory, but the .dat file name is different, Roxio names the files music01.dat.

Last night I was playing around with WinDVD and I figured out how to play my VCD, however, it's very inefficient. I went into the playlist option of WinDVD and I opened my D:\ drive (my DVD-ROM drive). I had to open the /mpegav directory and copy all of my .dat files for my VCD into the WinDVD playlist. With that, it started to play. The only thing is that the menus that I created for my VCD didn't work. At least I now know that my VCD does plays on my WinDVD. I just can't figure out how to autorun it, instead of physically copying all the .dat files in WinDVD playlist.

    Oh well...the learning experience continues...
