Digital TV broadcasting had been started in Japan in the form of HDTV. The only way to reord HDTV now is by D-VHS. Some of the D-VHS has i-link which enables DV-in but not DV-out. The i-link out is to another D-VHS. So, I suspect the existing capture cards and devices could not capture HDTV.
I want to capture HDTV out from D-VHS and then to make DVD-R with as highest quality as possible.
Do you have any ideas that I can adopt to achieve my goal?

If it were up to me, I'd just use this card

or a region equivalent (U.S. NTSC would probably be the WinTV-D or WinTV-HD), encode to the compliant output. Fully digital process. -
Hi azali,
Thanks for your reply. But information at Hauppauge shows that WinTV-D aims at the digital systems in US or Europe. I don't know if it can receive digital broadcasting in Japan or not. Any ideas?

I believe that Nova card from Hauppauge is for the Asian market. I believe that review was done from someone in Singapore. I'm not sure what format/standard Japan uses. I think it's a different form of NTSC (?). Hopefully someone else can provide some insight.
