I really need to locate some CD-RW's with gold dye?

My APEX 660 only picks up gold dye CD-RW's and I don't have a clue which brand to buy.

I don't have tons of money so CD-R to test VCDs is not something I can affort.

    What color r Verbatium 700meg CD-RW's?

    What color r Imation 650 CD-RW

    Does Imation make a 700meg CD-RW?>

    I'm goin shopping tomarrow

  2. Greg..
Is there a reason for the gold?
I have the Apex 660 as well and it plays everytype of blank media I can get my hands on ..including the standard Imation Cd'rs, Memorex Cd'rs, compusa Cd'rs, and it reads the Platinum Memorex CDRW's as well! If it does not read your media easily I would look into how your are burning them! I use Nero and go throught the wizard and select VCD.
I talked to Apex and its a fact that they shipped out their 660 units with 2 different kinds of software embedded in the firmware . I lucked out and got the one with the right firmware on it..it reads absolutely everything.. if yours is not, and you are burning it the correct way i would return it and hope you get the right one because with this baby it is all possible!
    good luck

  3. My 660 will read everything too provided the (X)VCD is produced properly.

I would suggest doing sample burns of simple MP3 files. This way you will rule out any errors that may happen in capturing, encoding, authoring, and burning your VCD's. You may be trying to read a disk that is unreadable - but not because of the media.

Try going to Apex to see if they have a firmware upgrade......usually CD-buners can be upgraded that way.

It sure would be nice to use any type of media (including the less expensive stuff).
