I ripped a bunch of audio files from CDs and noted that while most showed the following format for each song, some did not
track # - artist name - song title
Some of the files had unknown artist in the artist name field so I simply edited the file name to put in the artist name however once transferred to the MP3 player the artist name is still shown as unknown.
How do I change the unknown artist to the correct artist name so the MP3 player recognizes it?
Thank you

If you're talking about the MP3 tags then get yourself a good tag editor. I use MediaMonkey myself.

You need to edit the ID3 tag information, not the filename. Use a tag editor of your choice, like MP3Tag, or the built-in tag-editing features of whatever music player you're using on the system (WinAmp, etc.). Windows Vista and 7 also have built-in ways to do it (right-click on the file > Properties, and it's the last tab on the right of the Properties window, if I remember everything correctly (I'm not on our Vista system at the moment).)
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
On win7 its the third tab(details) on properties to changed the id3 tags.
