  2. The best way for a newbie (or anyone else in my opinion) to start making SVCDs is to use DVD2SVCD. DVD2SVCD is a front end program that automates the best programs in video and audio encoding and combines them to make creating dvd to svcd rips almost effortless on the users end. It used to use CCE for the encoder exclusively but now has incorporated support for TMPGenc with new versions. The nice thing is that it's free although donations are encouraged You can get to doom9's excellent guide by going to http://www.doom9.org and then clicking on guides on the left side and navigating to the DVD2SVCD guide. There are links to download the program as well as the guide on how to use it. There is also a forum on doom9's site. Make sure you read the newbie reference list and Q&A page as it will answer most of your questions. Good luck!
