  1. Hi we were wondering if anyone could advise on the following assuming a 500Gb ATA-100 HDD, 4Gb ram, 3gz latest pentium:

How long would it take to convert a 1 hour 32gb mpeg2 captured at 50 mbps to 1 hour h264 compressed F4V file or similiar?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks Steve

  2. "latest pentium ?" they don't make those anymore , what model exactly?

ATA HDD - they don't make those either . It must be an older P4-3Ghz model

    What dimensions, what bitrate ?

For SD material it would probably take 3-6 hours depending on quality settings . If you got a more recent computer like an i7, it might take 20-30 minutes (depending on quality settings ) . And if you have any filtering (e.g. deinterlacing) add to that time

  3. Thanks for the quick response.

I've been informed the computer is more likely to be a spec similar to:

    IntelŪ Core™ i3 Processor 540 (3.06GHz, 4MB)
    1GB ATIŪ Radeon™ HD 5450 graphics card
    4096MB 1333 MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM [4x1024]
1TB Serial ATA (7200RPM) Hard Drive

Dimensions we assume to be PAL 720x576

    Bit rate would 768 kbps
