I've trying to convert DVDs to MKV files to save storage while maintaining quality. I used XMedia Recoder, however the MKV file produced will not play on my ZIOVA CS615 HD Media Player. Other MKV movies are OK. I've tried using h264, MPEG4 and even Xdiv.

    Any Ideas?

Start by using mediaInfo on files that do work, and look at the way they have been encoded, then see if your new files match these settings.

  4. Just a guess, but newer mkvtoolnix builds have header compression enabled by default - this causes playback issues with some hardware that have not been updated with firmware . You could either disable it or use an older build (v4.0.0 is the latest version without header compression)
