I've backed up a movie using Mac BluRayRipper Pro. I tried burning with Toast 10 from the Video tab and BDMV folder option. That didn't work when I put it in 2 players. It told me that I needed to upgrade the software on my player.

Do I need to use ISO 9660? I'd play around with it and not mind the coasters...if the discs weren't $15/disc.

Any advice on how to burn these to play in my players?

Bluray are formatted UDF, I believe. You're correct about the price of discs. A BD-RE is a wise investment at this juncture in the game.

Price of BD-R disks have gone down considerably. I can find them now for about $3 apiece. My recommendation is to have just afew of the re-writable to use to test the compilation, then do a final burn on the BD-R.

Not all blank blu-ray disks are created equal. Your players may just not like the brand of disk you are using. I have great success with Verbatim. Very good prices on rima.com.

Also, some players may have difficulty playing burned blu-ray disks. A former co-worker's Sharp Blu-Ray player would not play disks that my Sony PS3 and Panasonic BD60 would play.

DVD-Video uses the UDF 1.02 file system.
Blu-ray uses the UDF 2.5 file system.
Burning a BD on UDF 1.02 is out of spec and may not be compatible with certain players.

How do I burn UDF 2.5 on a Mac? Toast doesn't seem to have a designation for it.
