  1. Hi,

I have two problems with subtitle.

    1) I have an .srt saved subtitle which i want to show according to time given. But at the top center - of the movie screen.
How can i change it from default from showing at down center. I want to mess with .srt files only.

2)I have two .srt files with one following the other. How can i join them.

I use Textsub on virtualDub for first. Any software for first problem

    Please reply soon.

    Thanks lot.

  2. 1) I don't know.
    2) Subtitle Workshop, but as I recall, it's a little complicated.

SRT files have no position or formatting information. Only text and time.
Whatever you use to display them should have formatting options.

If you specify what you are playing them with, someone may be able to help.

ASS /SSA subtitles do have extensive formatting options, if your player can handle it.

You can use Subtitle Workshop, I prefer the older 2.51 version.

If the second file's times continue from the end of the first, you can, in a text editor (eg, Notepad) paste the text from the second after the first, save it with an .srt extension, then open it in Subtitle Workshop and resave it; this will sort out the sequencing.

If the second file start times at zero, see the online help "5.4 Join subtitles" which explains this in detail. You basically have to set the correct delay for the second file times.

The TextSub filter, 'Styles' button screen has an alignment setting.

I was using a very old version which didn't have that feature. I just installed the latest version and saw the option. I see VobSub also includes a join utility now. That will let you join two subtitle files.

Just click Add, and select the 2 srt files in the right order (1 file, 2 file). And if the 2 srt timing starts from 0 sec... to the end, then select "recalculate time values", click join, and that's it.

I don't know what you mean by "2nd option".

If you aren't clear in your questions, you're not going to get anywhere.

Are you just playing your files in VDub, or encoding? If playing, it's not really designed for that

Sorry my 2nd option is clear.

I want solution to first answer.

I want to add subititle at upper center. How to do that. There is no style option. Nor any edit option for adding subtitles in that way.

The positioning of srt files is dependent on the authoring program, with tsmuxer you can set the position but you havent said what program you are using to author,if you aren't using any program to author and just imbeding the sub then use an .ssa sub.

You can't position srt subs in movie files.

  16. I use Jubler Subtitle Editor.

How to use TsMuxer for positioning the subtitle .srt. I dont see the option visible to me.

Is it used just to edit subtitles or it also do encoding.

Sorry i wish to encode through VirtualDub only. Since i have to watermarks also and other stuff. So how can i make subs to display at my desired located.

Can i position it at lowest bottom of the screen.

If you work with virtualdub, than you need to install vobsub 2.23, and during the installation install texsub 2.23 vor virtualdub.
In texsub 2.23 you can choose styles and position the srt subtitle whereever you want, you can change the color and... whatever.

I get this error while locating VirtualSub during Vobsub installation.

Thats why i never used Vobsub...

  19. Problem Solved. I just gone to the directory where the vobsub was installed and copy-pasted the .vdf file into plugins directory of VitrualDub.

Thanks a lot for all your support.

  20. I had a similar problem where the install locked up. But for me, it locked up after copying the VDF files to the VirtualDub plugins folder.
