  1. So i bought 500 days of summer from blockbuster and it wont play on my computer when i pop it in. when i open it up in like windows media player it says "Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted." And the cd won't show on My Computer. I tried downloading different dvd player software like ViVi and stuff but it won't work.
Please help me! I don't want to have wasted 10 dollars.

Download VLC Media player or use something like Power DVD. You could search for DVD playing software.

Media Player Classic Homecinema is better than VLC.
But the problem might be a screwed Registry...
In this case, yes, VLC, or simply Mplayer, would be the right software to use.

  5. @ El Huggente: yes, i've played dvds on it before. but this "rental exclusive" dvd wont play..

    Playback failure:
DVDRead could not open the disc "".
    Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd://'. Check the log for details.

try installing and running this before trying to start the movie. DVDFab Passkey. might have a form of pc protection. or it could just be a bad disc.

Maybe the disc is just bad. That happens.
