  1. Hi,

I've recently learned how to make a clip and upload them to sites like Youtube. I use VirtualDub to cut a portion of video file and Handbrake to reduce the size of the clip. It changes the clip into .mp4 format. Despite this, some of clips still remain big enough so that one can easily load it (specially one with slow internet connection) If I reduce the size further, the quality suffers very much.

I wonder if .mp4 is the best choice to reduce the size of a video with minimum quality loss or some other format is better so that a small file can easily be loaded online!

    Thanks for your reply.

    Hi
With Handbrake there is an option to use H.264 (x264).
    Have you used this one?
It will still give you a mp4 file but it will be a smaller size than MPEG-4. It will also take longer to convert.

This is the one I use generally. Handbrake has set it as default and I don't touch it when I reduce the size.
