Okay. I just got a Panasonic PV-GS 320 Mini DV camcorder, and the quality of video when imported to my computer is great.
    I only have one problem.
The video files are pretty damn big, and I need to get them onto YouTube.
I understand I should give them the biggest possible file (being 100MB or under) because they will convert to the FLV format. However, I need to make a 1.2Gigabyte file 100MB while maintaining the best quality possible - and people say I shouldn't upload an already compressed video to YouTube, but then how the hell do I upload a video to YouTube when it's too large!?!

What formats should I convert to and please be specific...

    Thanks a lot...

You should have done a search for 'YouTube' here and you would have found this: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic336882.html and this: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic336882.html and quite a few more threads on YouTube quality.

And jooleyen, please do not double post. I've deleted the other topic. If you want to move a topic to another forum, PM a Mod.

You can use the other Youtube uploader which allows files of up to 1Gb, so no need for that serializeing stuff.

  5. Use 4:3 ratio and preferably MPEG format. YouTube resizes your videos to 320x240 pixels, encodes them to Flash 7 at a data rate of approximately 250 kbps and compresses audio to mp3 (22.050 KHz, mono). It's very important that you keep an aspect ratio of 4:3, otherwise the quality of your video will be degraded. Flash 7 codec performs best when the frame width and height use multiples of 16. This is optimal for video playback.

    YouTube (newest) recommended settings are:
    MPEG4 (DivX, Xvid, SVQ3) format
    640x480 resolution
    64k Mono MP3 audio
    30 frames per second
