  1. Hi. I have a RadioShack color security camera that connects to a tv with composite cables. I also have a Pinnacle usb 2.0 video capture device. I used the install disc that came with the capture device but I cant get a picture to show up on-screen. I did have to go to the Pinnacle site and download drivers for the capture device and skimmed threw their faq -- uninstalled everything then re-installed starting with the drivers and updated my ATI driver like they suggested.....I still got the same results.
Anyway, cut to chase-what I want to be able to do is hook up this camera with the usb capture device to my desktop and be able to record the video and also be able to veiw it remotely- need software for that right?- over the internet with my laptop if I am away from home.
The capture device came with Pinnacle dvd maker deluxe and the software only gives steps for converting vhs to dvd and its pretty cheesy. Im sure this is a pretty simple thing to do for most of you -- will someone please help me out with a free remote veiw program and give me some step by step set-up & install instructions for the camera & capture device. Thanks in advance for any help I get.

I once used a webcam to make a motion detection security cam. Installed it in a guys work office. Worked great for what he wanted. After installing the capture devices software you just need to download a program called dorgem. It does avi as well as still picture capturing. I found that the avi captures were not quite stable and would sometimes mess up. However the still picture captures worked great.

Here is a tutorial I found for installing and using dorgem.

This may not be exactly what you are looking for but I hope it helps.
