Newbie here trying to figure out the settings I need for Premier 5.1
I have my edited video file done in Premier and now I'm ready to export it. There are several settings for video for the framerate and such, can anyone give me the settings I need to create the file for eventual use on a VCD. I understand that I will need to convert the file before burning it to a CD.
I was also wondering if settings I set at the begining for my project have any effect also.
Thanks,
P.S. I would just like to give my high appraisal of this site also, seems like they have evrything covered for video editing.

You can use an MPEG-1 plugin (e.g., Panasonic, bbMPEG, CCE) with Premiere so that you can export directly to MPEG-1.
Else, you could use AVISynth with Premiere to frameserve to an external encoder (e.g., TMPGEnc).
Both ways will prevent you from needing to go through an intermediate AVI step.
As for the settings, you should make sure that the settings are correct when you start your project and for export.
For VCD, the framesize should be 352x240 for NTSC and 352x288 for PAL. The framerate should be 29.97 for NTSC and 25 for PAL.
You'll find more info if you click on "What Is VCD/SVCD" on the menu to the left.

Thanks again for the info. I have downloaded one of the suggested products and will give that a try.
Is there any reason I should upgrade my premier to do VCD's? I just wondered if it would be a waste of money if can do it with what I have now, 5.1. -
Unless you intend to use DV Video camera footage, like home movies, do not bother to upgrade.

Is their a preferred method. Why would I use the CCE plugin as opposed to Avisynth in Premiere and vice versa. Is one better/easier then the other.
