Region Free DVD Recorders?

Hi,

I honestly wasn't sure where the best place was to post this--but if this isn't it, hopefully you can point me in the right direction.

I'm in the market for a DVD recorder; it's going to be used mainly to dub DVDs from PAL to NTSC (I have a region-free player it'll be connected to). What I can't figure out, though, is whether the recorder itself needs to be region-free (or whether such a thing even exists). I know that the recorder that I am replacing had to be switched between PAL and NTSC mode, depending on the signal coming from the player.

So, when shopping for a DVD recorder, can I buy any old recorder--or does it have to be somehow multi-region?

Multi region - region free only applies to playback. All recorded DVDs are region free.

Why are you converting from pal to ntsc?

thanks, but my question is not about the physical dvd being burned--it's about whether the recorder will be able to read either PAL or NTSC input? is that a consideration?

Video formats and DVD regions are two separate concepts.
