p.s im using nashua cd-r's, is there a better cd that i should try? i also have some memorex cd-r's, but i figured they were pretty much the same as the nashuas.

I use FlaskMPEG with the Panasonic plugin to re-code my captures (captured at 5 mbit/sec mpeg2) and Nero 5 for burning. I haven't burned a disk yet that didn't work! Are you trying to play your disks on a stand-alone player, if so is it able to read CD-R/RW disks? (some aren't).

im usin a hitachi and on the front it says it plays dvds, cds and video cds. can you recommend a brand of cd that you use? maybe the cheapie nashuas are the problem, but i didnt want to buy more expensive ones until i knew for sure which ones would work the best. i usually use the nashuas for music and the memorexs for software and game backups. what should i get for my vcds?

also ive got another quick question if anyone can answer it. when im using the panasonic to encode my files it has diffrent choices for the output file(mpeg1 system, mpeg1 video, mpeg1 audio, vcd/ntsc stream, vcd/pal stream). ive been using the vcd/ntsc stream, but im kinda unclear about the instructional on the front page. is this the right setting?

The fact that the DVD player says it can play VCDs doesn't necessarily guarantee that it is going to be able to play VCDs on CD-R. Try a CD-RW...my DVD player refuses to play CD-Rs but will accept CD-RWs. There is a fairly technical explanation as to how CD-RWs reflect a laser wavelength that is more DVD-like and can fool DVD players in a way that CD-Rs cannot (commercially produced VCDs are a little abnormal in this regard). Wish I could remember the URL where I found this explanation...
