Sorry, I know there are many different opinions on this, but I want to know which video converter most of you prefer. I have been using AnyVideoConverter (For MPEG to avi), but seem to get lag in the video at times. Please give other suggestions that have worked well.

    Thanks

I use xmedia recode, winff and xvid4psp.

If still same problems give more details about the source.

I'm a big fan of AVS Video Converter but you'll have to dish out $30, well worth it in my opinion.

Reliable? I guess the simple converters are the most reliable ones...

I've had very good luck with Format Factory... I've found the secret is to first go to MediaInfo and get as much info as possible such as Bit Rate, Video Size & Frames per Second & then when you open Format Factory & select your output (avi, etc.). Then go into Output Settings & put in your settings...Video Encode, Video Size, Bit Rate (very important...the higher the better), FPS (frames per second... also important. keep original), Aspect Ratio & Audio Encode (at least 128). The great thing about it is you can monitor your output as it is encoding to check to see if the quality is what you want. If not you can stop it, reset your settings till it looks right to you. With a little tweaking you can get a copy pretty close to the original if not exact.

I guess it depends on what you are converting and what format you want at the end, but to get Divx output, I don't use it a lot but I exclusively use Dr. Divx. I paid for the commercial Divx package prior to them supporting H.264 and I've used Dr. Divx when I needed to produce Divx output. It's worked reliably well for me and I like the quality.

    Hi,

I've been through many convertors, Xilisoft is the best, it's fast, smooth and audio is always in sync.
